Update: The new speed cameras on the M4 near Port Talbot are now live

It has been confirmed by the Welsh Government that the new speed cameras on the M4 near Port Talbot are now operational. Additional speed cameras have recently been installed between junctions 41 and 42 of the M4 after the speed limit was changed during Jul 24 th of this year. A spokesperson for the Welsh Government said: “Tackling air quality is a priority for the Welsh Government and we are committed to building healthier communities and better environments. These cameras are aimed at reducing emissions and delivering vital improvements in air quality.” There was a report generated last year that suggested that junction 41 on the M4 for Port Talbot could be closed in a bit to cut pollution. However, the idea was criticised by politicians from Port Talbot and surrounding areas as they feared a repeat of the “chaos” that was caused four years ago when the junction was closed as part of a trial. An influential group of MPs has announced that they are looking to ban parking on pavements in the UK to help the most vulnerable pedestrians. The ban could make life easier for parents with pushchairs, schoolchildren and disabled people according to the House of Commons’ transport committee. The Government has previously promising to review the law around parking on pavements, but they are yet to act upon it and have faced criticism. As promising as the proposal is, the RAC has warned that the new law could help the most vulnerable however a blanket ban may do more harm than good. Brynna Juniors FC: An Evening With Paul Merson

Thursday 5th September sees Brynna Juniors FC host an evening with former England, Portsmouth and Arsenal legend, Paul Merson. Originally a forward, Merson found success as an attacking midfielder, and play maker later in his career. Most recently Paul has been seen on our televisions as a football pundit for Sky. Born in Harlesden, he made his professional debut for Arsenal during the 1986-87 season. He would then go on to play for the North London club for a total of eleven seasons. While he was with the Gunners, Merson was a key player in the club's success under Scottish manager George Graham, winning the Football League Championship twice, the FA Cup, the Football League Cup, and the European Cup Winners' Cup.
