As many of us are now planning our imminent summer holiday, there are some rules that you need to abide by if you are planning on driving through another country.

Here is a list of some notable countries and their laws on the use of dash cams:

United States – Restricted under certain state laws.

Portugal – Banned entirely.

Belgium – Legal to own and use however it is restricted to private use only.

France – Legal to own and use however it is restricted to private use only. If you do happen to record an offence that then the footage must only be sent straight to the police and not publicly posted anywhere.

Austria – Banned entirely. Carry fines of up to £22,000 for repeat offenders.

Luxembourg – Legal to own, but illegal to film any public space. Offenders can also face jail time depending on the location that they filmed.

Germany – Legal to own and use, but illegal to upload footage to social media unless all faces and number plates have been obscured to protect identities.

Norway – Legal to own and use but they are not to be installed in the driver’s view.

Switzerland – Technically they are legal however they are heavily restricted. They can’t be used for documenting a journey or for entertainment. Other drivers must know they are being recorded too. There are even other privacy laws that prevent filming of people, places or cars not involved in an accident.

It has been announced that the new Vauxhall Vivaro is now available to order with customers able to take delivery later on this year, most likely during the summer. Sources claim that you can get your hands on one of these medium sized vans from £21,240 (CVOTR) but ill be officially announced at the CV Show in Birmingham in April 2019. Ford extend payment holidays until September

Ford of Britain have decided to extend its offering of six-month payment holidays to new van buyers in a bid to keep customers buying new commercial vehicles during the Covid-19 pandemic. It is called the Ford ‘Peace of Mind’ programme and was initially launched to run through April and May of this year but they soon decided to extend it until the end of June. Premier Commercial Vehicles can now confirm that the programme is set to run until the end of September 2020. The scheme allows customers to defer the first three payments (after they part with the initial deposit) of their finance agreement. Then the following three payments will be covered by Ford in one single payment, capped at £750 - £1,600, depending on which vehicle the customer has.
