First Look: New Volkswagen Caddy

We do love a new van at Premier, that’s pretty much all we want to talk about. Whether it’s a giant Peugeot Boxer that swallows all your cargo, or a Ford Transit Tourneo that swallows up all your passengers.

Introducing the new Volkswagen Caddy that comes with a surprisingly large number of features as standard in comparison to its predecessor. In fact, the overall styling of this iconic small van is arguably more attractive than most cars in the VW range.

So, let’s talk body-types. The new Caddy will arrive as a normal panel van, a passenger-focused people carrier and, wait for it, a campervan! That’s right, a campervan that will be small enough, and therefore fast enough to not create a long line of traffic across the British countryside as soon as we get a mild glimpse of summer. We all know how much Volkswagen rave about their California model that is based on the Transporter, so it will be an exciting time to see what they have done for a fun-size version.

Let’s talk facts. The New Caddy comes with 19 driving aids, including one for helping you reverse an attached trailer. It is built on Volkswagen’s ‘MQB’ platform, which means it ought to benefit from the same road manners as the Golf.

The engines, well they are diesel which will probably come as no surprise. You can opt for either a 74 or 120ps output. You can also source petrol and gas versions and let’s not kid ourselves, we will most likely see an electric version in the not-so distant future.
